Blog Post #10:  Overtime my PLN has advanced to include more people and tools. I learned more tool that could help me with my progression, and learned how to better use them for my future, such as adobe tools, Microsoft tools and programs such as Weebly. I also deepened my relationship and connections with colleagues in the university.  I become more friendly with them and so could spend more quality time with them. I also learned more and connected more with my professors so that we can work together to work on research or just to advance my knowledge in a particular subject.  I a lot of my spaces and tools still stayed the same but I started using the library and college spaces more often.  As a historian, I think data collection tools like surveys or digital questionnaires would be useful for gathering information directly from people who experienced certain events or grew up in specific communities. Instead of just relying on books or archives, I could use tools ...

My experience with distance learning in K-12 education was interesting. I feel like its a good way to implement technology into classrooms, teaching kids technology and other subjects at the same time. I have experienced the VR headset, 3D printing Pen, Touch Screen, and different games on the touch screen. I have not experienced the robots that they had. I feel like robotics is interesting field and I would like to learn more about it in the future. As well as explore VR more and try out the different games and programs that they have, especially the language learning ones.  Open Educational Resources (OER) are free learning materials that anyone can use for school or teaching. They can be things like textbooks, videos, or lesson plans that you can change or share. OER make learning easier and cheaper because everyone can access quality resources without paying for them. The article provides an assignment for students where it provides a text format explaining who the different pe...

I acquired a lot of new skills while working on the Web Design assignment. Such as design skills, as well as understanding of how website setups works. I used the design principles of proximity to align the images and text so that they look cohesive and good. I also used similar texts and colors to make the website look uniform. The biggest thing I didn't like about the website assignment is integrating the different features as it was complicated sometimes to set it up.  Such as integrating the social media into my website as well as the calendar setup. I would use the knowledge of website design in the future to create my own website and already know the process so that it would be easier in the future.  I would use QR codes for extra credit purposes, it can be a mini activity related to the subject or part of a easter egg hunt. The student can scan it and be redirected to a checklist and an extra credit assignment. This will be a self-guided worksheet or a quiz on the subje...

The website is very informative and engaging especially for students. I feel like its very friendly and a lot of the lesson plans and information is presented in a videogame and Disney reference.  It includes sections about the different lessons, from world-history to US-history, as well as video-games that connect to the lesson plans and engage the students.  The website includes a whole section about contacting the teacher and the calendar for the class so the parents and students always know what's happening and how to talk to the teacher.  One specific thing that was interesting was the inclusion of blog, I feel like its not necessary but a interesting addition to the website, where the teacher can share his opinions and experiences with students.  https://www.mrroughton.com/home In my professional teaching career  I would use technology as a tool to communicate with students if they have any issues and need help. I will use in today's technological world, t...

I selected the standard of Explore Hardware compatibility requirements. The standard is talking about how to disassemble and assemble a desktop, what each hardware does in the computer and how all of them affect the performance of the computer.  The standard also talks about how network and Wi-fi work and the different components that make it word in our world today.  I feel mildly prepared, I feel like I can learn more in detail about the parts of a desktop and how they function, but in general I know the hardware of the computer.  I also know how to disassemble and do simple repairs to your computer. I would also have to learn more about how the network works in general. Overall I would be fine taking this class.  I used the video resource of Alexander Hamilton: The Outsider. This video presents students with a portion of Alexander Hamilton’s book and the student discusses how it relates to his life and values.  The students will specifically focus on c...

My experience with blogging so far has been mixed. I think I like to write blogs and I would like to develop this skill further. At the moment I like the ability to express my voice in writing, as well as develop my writing skills. These skills could help me in my career as well as school life. I don’t like blogging because of the mental blocks you can have, especially with writing something creative or not factual that you can go off.  As of right now it's not that bad, because I have a prompt to write about.  I have learned a lot from blogging but most importantly I have learned to express and format my thoughts on paper. It helped me learn how to do that best and what programs I can have in writing. I also learned how to manage my work and write every week which you would generally do with a blog or any content uploading.  My experience and thoughts on AI in classrooms is divisive. On one hand it allows a lot of methods and tools for creative or organizational l...

My experience using tools like Pinterest, Instagram, is mostly beneficial. I learned a lot from people posting their experiences and knowledge. It also includes a lot of historical information and interesting facts, that have to be fact checked though for accuracy.  It also helped with my Personal Learning Network by helping me connect with friends and organize hangouts and study sessions for mental health as well as learning.  I have been interacting with a lot of groups that present historical information for my own learning, as well as a lot of study tips. I also interacted with content creators that are interesting for me and my future development. I also explored some content made by teachers to see if the field interests me. The platforms will be very beneficial in my future, as I will get more connections and networks that I would have to maintain and connect with people.  Also more professional websites such as LinkedIn, and  Microsoft features and Adobe apps...
