Blog Post #5:

My experience with blogging so far has been mixed. I think I like to write blogs and I would like to develop this skill further. At the moment I like the ability to express my voice in writing, as well as develop my writing skills. These skills could help me in my career as well as school life. I don’t like blogging because of the mental blocks you can have, especially with writing something creative or not factual that you can go off.  As of right now it's not that bad, because I have a prompt to write about.  I have learned a lot from blogging but most importantly I have learned to express and format my thoughts on paper. It helped me learn how to do that best and what programs I can have in writing. I also learned how to manage my work and write every week which you would generally do with a blog or any content uploading.

My experience and thoughts on AI in classrooms is divisive. On one hand it allows a lot of methods and tools for creative or organizational learning, as well as helping you manage your life. On the other hand, it is often used to cheat and not learn from assignments, students could use it to write their essays or solve their math problems, so never learning the skills needed in life. I think AI should be taught in school just like computers, schools can’t be too conservative about it. AI is an emerging tool and students need to learn how to best use it in creative and useful ways. Schools should teach the class about it, as a tool not to cheat but to either learn or use it in your life. You can use it to study the topic or to organize your schedule. I also think AI should be introduced later on in education around 8-12 grade when students have an ability to develop their own skills better.

I had a pretty flawless experience using AI for the Participation portfolio for the lesson plan, as it was detailed and included all the necessary lessons that the students can learn and engage with the topic.  With the Meme creation it was harder as AI is generally harder to use for image generation and expressing what you actually want from your mind to words. The best for me was to make a general plan first and then ask him either to add or delete sections or parts that don’t work for me or don’t fit my vision.  For next time I will interact with it in even more detail to create something that is the closest to my vision.

I envision AI in my school as a tool and not the maker of your assignment.  Students can and should learn how to use and use it in their daily life if it helps them improve and advance their learning. However, students will be reprimanded if they use it to make their whole assignment. These should come from their own words and thinking. I will be very strict about it and will be very harsh if a student catches using it as their work in order to set an example and prevent further cheating. Especially at a young age it would be important for me to develop this mindset early on. I will also teach how to best approach it from ethical concerns of copyright, environmentalism, and personal development.
